Adventures in STL - Jacob the Ring Bearer

We were back in St. Louis this past weekend for Laura's wedding. It was quite a weekend - we got in late Wednesday night, and spent Thursday at Chris's parents' house in Red Bud, helping out with last minute details and relaxing before all the wedding activities began. Jacob enjoyed hanging out with G'ma Sue & G'pa Willie. Great Aunt Linda had kindly donated Jacob's cousins (Ariel & Aubrey's) old motorized Barbie Jeep. Although it was not in the most manly of color schemes, Jacob really started to catch on to the whole driving thing, although the steering was a bit beyond him.

He really liked in when Mommy drove him in a faster gear, though:

Friday, the boys went up to near the wedding location to play golf with the rest of the men of the wedding party, while G'ma Sue & I got our nails & toes done. Since there was no babysitter, Jacob came along. At first, he was upset - I think he thought that the pedicure chair/footbath thingy was something from a doctor's office, but once he realized that the lady was there for me, not him, he settled down and we read books on my lap until my toes were back into shape.

Friday night was the wedding rehearsal and dinner. He did really well at the rehearsal, eventually getting really comfortable will all the new people and new place. He even spread out on the stairs leading up to the altar and was "posing" for pictures a friend was taking (don't have them yet to post). It was late, so we took Jacob back to the hotel before dinner. Jacob spent both Friday & Saturday nights with G'ma Bushe & G'pa Gary, so they were excited to have the first overnight duties other than us. He did really well for them, other than having them wrapped around his finger pretty tightly - I think each meal he ate with them, he ate the equivalent of about 2 or 3 meals. Pretty soon, the pediatrician will ban G'ma Bushe from giving Jacob extra treats like the vet has banned G'ma Sue from giving the dogs any. Here's G'ma Bushe cuddling with Jacob during the reception:

Although, as you can see from these pictures, G'ma Sue isn't exactly innocent when it comes to spoiling Jacob, either:
"G'ma Sue, feed me! My belly's so big, I can't reach the bowl!"

"G'ma Sue, you're not so bad - I like this being waited on hand & foot!"

The wedding went great - Laura said "I do", looked absolutely beautiful, and Jacob cooperated for the most part with all of his duties - his patience ran a little thin during all the pictures afterwards, but he and Chris (who was a groomsman) walked halfway down the aisle and escorted April, a bridesmaid, and her daughter Ada, who happened to be the flower girl. They even walked in holding hands when the wedding party was announced at the reception. He did really well during the dinner at the reception, and even managed to dance a little, despite it being well past his bed time. Here are some pictures of Jacob and others enjoying themselves at the wedding:

The Adventures of Jacob

Well, leave it to Murphy & his law. Jacob's shiner has just about fully healed and gone from view, when what happens yesterday? Jacob did a face plant on the concrete driveway, skinning up his nose and forehead. We didn't think it looked too bad yesterday, but today it's really scabbed up, giving a "Rudolph" appearance just in time for this Saturday when he walks down the aisle for his Aunt Laura's wedding... oh, well - I guess that will just enhance his "cute" factor. And, since I am a bigger person, I will not mention who's watch Jacob was on when said face plant occurred. (But, I will tell you it was not under my watch this time!)
He is really enjoying water lately - both at swim lessons & during bath time. We had our last swim lesson this past Saturday. Not only did he not cry or cling to us at all, he put his entire face into the water for several seconds. During bath time now, when we pour water over his head to wash his hair, he wipes his face, gets this big grin, then makes the sign for "more"! (The 2ND bath picture is right after he got water dumped on him - does he look upset?)
Jacob is also been really vocal - he's starting to noticeably imitate things we say to him, still using his own "jargon", but the speech patterns & sounds are at least recognizable. His new repertoire includes "I love you", "hair", "nose", "mouth" to name a few.

Here are some pictures to enjoy, including Rudolph Phases 1 & 2, as well as Jacob playing basketball with Daddy, playing in the tub, and Jacob enjoying his new Kung Fu Panda pillow I brought him from work.

Here's some pics for the Grandma's Jacob Fix!

Just thought I would put some pictures up. Had some cute ones. He's actually smiling for the camera occasionally now. Here's some pics from playing with his friend Braden and of course playing with the Tupperware, and a real Sh*t eating grin after playing in the dogs water bowl. We also got him some safety gear for the next time he goes down the deck stairs.

Jacob's First Shiner!

Jacob had a pretty fun weekend hanging out with Daddy while Mommy was out having a weekend of drunken debauchery at Aunt Laura's Bachorlette party in Chicago. Along with Grandma Wolters and Heidi and Fran, who I heard had an interesting lap dance. Anyway I wanted to post some more pics and declare my innocence while a certain mommy is fussing over the little guy, who took a tumble down a flight of stairs on the deck tonight. Don't worry he's alright. Give him a cracker and he's all okay. I wouldn't mention who was watching this certain someone at that moment. Because that would be mean, and she feels guilty enough already. Oops. So here's a picture of Me and Jacob this weekend, and also one of Mommy and Jacob this weekend. Enjoy
